Brother John's Beer Bourbon & BBQ

I'm from the South, so I'm used to really good barbecue, the kind you'd find in Memphis, Arkansas, Texas, Georgia or Kansas City. I didn't know where to look for barbecue in Arizona, but Brother John's was recommended to my daughter. First off all, the service is great. Corie really offered great suggestions and made sure we were happy. Note that pretty much everything is a la carte, so, no-- don't expect to get fries just because you got a sandwich. I tried the nachos, aka the Hot Mess. I'm told the regular size is really big, so I got the mini version minus the jalapeños and I got mild salsa on the side. I don't care for really spicy foods, and if you get it "as is" I'm told it's very spicy. With the mini, you don't get queso, but you definitely need some cheese. I ordered that on the side. The brisket on top of the nachos was very tender. I liked it, especially paired with the Brother John's original barbecue sauce. They bring a variety of sauces to your table, so you can try them all and decide what level of sweetness and/or heat you like. My daughter ordered a hot link, 1/3 pound of pulled pork (you have to ask for sliced bread with it) and a sweet potato. She also got the smoked brisket elote (she didn't think this was that good) but she enjoyed the sausage link and the pulled pork. Now, I mentioned I'm from the south. So, I was a little disappointed they didn't have Sweet Tea. But Corie threw me together a mixture of the sweet tea and the peach tea, I added in a Splenda, and it was just right! They also have a wide variety of beers and cocktails. They had live music that night (Friday) but they were setting up as we were leaving, so I didn't get to hear it. Maybe next time!

Ordered the Fluffy for our party of 4. There was plenty of food for everyone plus extra. Had a nice mixed drink with St. Germaine which I really love. The beignets were a really nice touch at the end of our meal. The wings were superb, loved the Elotes corn dish (I would have added more cojita) and the brisket nachos were ok, not down with that canned cheese though. We were all avid smokers at the table so its hard to go out and expect the same caliber and quality but overall the ribs were great, brisket had a nice flavor though no evident smokering, the links were interesting as we tried the alligator and hot links. The alligator was a little dry and lacking flavor but that's to be expected due to the fat content. Sides were as expected, potato salad, burnt end beans and cornbread. I would have used buttermilk and sugar in that cornbread, as one of my top favorites I would have eaten it all first thing but it didn't get me like that. I'd go back, this was my second visit, the first was many years ago. At the end of the evening a band was setting up and they wanted a $12 cover per person 🤣 Glad we have a good place to go for BBQ thanks for working so hard!

2nd time here on a Saturday afternoon. Awesome brisket (large serving) and ribs. Sides were good , especially the baked sweet potato. And a huge collection of craft beers, including our favorites, the ipa's and the sours. 7 jazz performers were on the stage, making it a relaxing afternoon.

We’ve enjoyed visiting Bro John’s 5 different times during our month long visit in Tucson. Nothing but great service from all of our servers, especially Damon! The pulled pork, beans, french fries & the Hot Mess nachos were wonderful but their fried chicken, mashed potatoes & green beans were so good we had them 3 out of 5 times, I forgot to take pictures of the food but believe me they wouldn’t do the food justice. The ambience is fun and the wall of bourbon/whiskey is just as amazing as the 50+ beers on tap.

We stopped here on our way back from Bisbee and Tombstone. Wanted some good BBQ and we were not disappointed! It was amazing! We will be back on our next trip. Service was great too! Our wait person explained everything to us and made it very easy!! We plan to bring family when they come to visit! We are from northern AZ.
