As a recent resident of Tucson for the past 6 months, I thought it would be special for me to book services with a day pass at Canyon Ranch AZ on my birthday December 22nd. The entire staff that I dealt with was amiable and courteous and very attentive. My focal point of the day was my first choice service that got me to go the Canyon Ranch in the first place..."The Sanctuary of Sound and Watsu" (an aquatic massage). Being a massage therapist myself, I had never had the experience of receiving or giving this type of massage, so I knew that this treatment was going to be very special. I need to commend and applaud my massage therapist and my sound therapist Melodee and Audrey, for putting together such an innovative and creative treatment by incorporating both a water massage (which has healing qualities) and live musical instruments (sound frequencies that promotes calmness and relaxation on an ethereal level) tapping into the energy, sound frequencies and vibrational qualities of water and sound that the 3 of us experienced in that room, collectively. The treatment I received was such a unique experience for me...beautiful and profound with fluidity and grace. I felt safe, highly supported and nurtured, and so meaningful for me on so many levels...physically/emotionally/spiritually. What a beautiful healing moment it was to receive this on such a special day. It opened me up to allow clarity and focus in! I felt honored and grateful to have such two special and beautiful souls, Melodee and Audrey, partake with me on my healing journey. Thank you both so very much for your caring and kindness. I will most definitely be back. These two therapists deserve 5 stars - outstanding!!!

Well let’s start with most staff are wonderful and very accommodating! Especially to Kelly, who was incredibly genuine. The grounds are very enjoyable with excellent landscaping. That is where the compliments end I’m afraid, take the rest as you will, ultimately I would never recommend or return. The flagship pools is sad and outdated, as are the other two pool, motel vibes from the 1960s. We ate a variety of drab food for lunch, and dry stale dessert. Great lattes, though unfortunate there was only drip coffee available during the day otherwise. Everyone in my party became ill after eating lunch, which ruined the rest of the day. The spa was small and crowded in the afternoon. Amenity qualities were generally good but the steam room had a musty moldy odor. On a final note, some random elderly blonde woman rudely told us we were not welcome in the pilates room, per manager? Despite this, she was using a reformer and did not dress or behave appropriately compared to all the other great staff…

We came here for a spa day for 2. TDLR is that for the price, it’s absolutely not worth it if you are a couple and / or under 60. More detail below — but that being said, the massage and service were excellent. Thank you Dylan and Ellie and Cynthia! 1. All the facilities (sauna, steam, hot tub, cold plunge) are single sex 2. Everything is very very dated from the locker rooms, to the fitness studios, to not even having real yoga mats, to the food — and not in a charming way. Not only is it dated, but the facilities are built for elderly people. Every single pool has a crane chairlift which exacerbates the existing lack of aesthetic — clearly this + being dated makes it okay for a certain type of clientele, but was not a fit for us 3. Many of the fitness studios were not neat and or that clean - towels discarded, limescale on the showers, mats not put away neatly. Understand they may have recently been in use, but really compounds the two comments above Summary — would not waste cash booking a spa day here. We wish we’d booked earlier and got a spot at the new Miraval spa or just gotten a massage somewhere local.

This is a very disappointing review to write as we had such high hopes for a beautiful spa day at Canyon Ranch. My sister and I both visited the ranch on a day pass and were told that one of the restaurants was closed for renovations. The construction was not mentioned when we booked which I would have thought to be worth mentioning in order to set expectations. Unfortunately the restaurant we did eat at left us both quite sick. I will spare details and just say avoid eating here! After spending a day on the property I do believe renovations are much needed... far far beyond just the restaurant. The entire property is quite run down. At the spa I booked a collagen lifting facial - the aesthetician asked a few questions and found that I was not a candidate for the treatment as I have had a metal disc replacement in my neck (the microcurrent technology for VENN required there to be no metal in between your face and where they ground you with a wet sponge in your armpit... makes sense - however... why was this not asked in advance? The aesthetician had to scramble to come up with another treatment option for the time slot that I had booked and essentially did a custom makeshift job so it was a "sort of" collagen lifting facial. This could have been avoided with due diligence. I will give credit to the aesthetician in thinking on her feet and being pleasant when another staff member put her in a predicament. The last thing that was a bit off putting on our visit was an elderly blonde lady in the Pilates room... she was working out and jumped up when we came in with a quite rude and loud "Can I help you?" - As if we interrupted her workout rather than us being guests of the property. I am a certified Yoga and Pilates instructor so wanted to show my sister a new move on the machine that I thought she would love. However when I asked about using the machines she told us "Management policy - you cannot use the machines" ...which also makes me wonder if she's the Pilates instructor? I don't know who else would try to implement fake rules that aren't posted. We chose not to cause a scene or question her so just left the bad energy. At least we got a good laugh about a crazy women on her high horse after! It seems that the great reputation that Canyon Ranch had is no longer - perhaps the MA property is different and holds this one up. Certainly not recommending the Tucson establishment to anyone anytime soon. We walked away from our spa day not only disappointed but quite sick from the food poisoning. Not recommended in the least.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Five-Star Experience with Thoughtful Suggestions We recently visited the Canyon Ranch in Tucson, and overall, our stay was truly wonderful. Every staff member we encountered was warm, welcoming, and consistently pleasant. We were always greeted with smiles, and that level of hospitality made the entire experience feel special. We also loved the thoughtful touches—like the complimentary shuttle and the departure snacks, especially the famous oat bars. Those small details really set the tone for a memorable stay. The spa was absolutely exceptional. Some standout providers we’d love to recognize were Renee for facials and Marvin, Bryant, Matthew, Liz, and Reigh for massage and bodywork. Each treatment felt restorative and personalized, and the spa easily became one of our favorite parts of the trip. A few friendly suggestions that could elevate the experience even further: • The lobby and guest rooms have more of an older “dude ranch” vibe. While charming, some modernization—while still preserving the character—would help the property better match the expectations of a five-star wellness resort. • The food is clearly crafted with health in mind, and we appreciate the intention. However, having one or two more flavorful options—or offering additional sauces and seasonings—would really enhance the meals. We also noticed that several dishes arrived cold on more than one occasion in both the main restaurant and the Double U Café. We understand items may be prepped in advance due to the limited menu, but ensuring dishes stay warm until they’re served would make a big difference. • It may also help if servers informed guests that dishes are intentionally lightly seasoned so guests can salt or season to their liking. We heard several guests comment on blandness, and a quick explanation would likely prevent misunderstandings or negative feedback. • A digital map in the Canyon Ranch app would be incredibly helpful. While we received a paper map at check-in, we didn’t always carry it. Having it accessible on our phones would make navigating the large property much easier. • We participated in the sound bath and loved the experience. The bolsters were appreciated, but the yoga mats were very thin, and lying on the hard floor for 45 minutes became uncomfortable toward the end. Adding slightly more cushioning or an optional comfort layer would make this already beautiful session even better. • We also tried the Herbal Detox Wrap, which was an intense and effective treatment. The heat component was fantastic, but incorporating a brief cool-down phase at the end—such as cool towels or another refreshing touch—would help bring body temperature back down and make the treatment feel more complete. Even with these suggestions, our overall stay was fantastic. Canyon Ranch Tucson delivered relaxation, renewal, and exceptional service. We would absolutely return and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a rejuvenating wellness getaway. Kara & Monique
