I selected Dignity Health East Valley Rehab for my 86 year old mother’s rehabilitation back in October 2025 based on their many glowing reviews. Unfortunately, our experience was nothing like what others described. If this center was once deserving of five stars, something has clearly changed — because what we experienced was neglect, indifference, and a complete lack of accountability. To be fair, the physical therapy itself was strong. The rehab team worked my mother hard, as they should, and that part of her care met expectations. Our pain management concerns will be addressed below. However, the nursing care was deeply troubling and fell far below acceptable medical standards. My mother was transferred from Mercy Gilbert still very ill, just 24 hours after gallbladder surgery. She was feverish, lethargic, and clearly not well enough to participate in therapy. Yet no one on staff noticed or intervened. She was too disoriented to request pain medication before therapy sessions, but not a single nurse seemed to recognize that something was wrong. Nor did they ask her pain level. Never offering pain meds or even Tylenol to help make her more comfortable! On her third day there, my sister arrived and found our mother sitting in her own mess — clearly having been that way for hours — while the nursing staff was unaware. When my family advocated for additional tests, the attending physician dismissed my sister’s concerns cruelly and with a heated attitude as if my sister didn’t know what she was talking about. Although the Dr reluctantly agreed to order the test, it was never done. To make matters worse, the facility took my mother’s orthopedic boot (for her dropped foot) to be adjusted, and it was never returned. No one at Dignity has been able to locate it, even weeks later. Despite our repeated pleas not to discharge her — knowing she was still too weak and unwell — we were told we had no choice. My mother was just another Medicare number not a dying woman. Less than 12 hours after she came home, a visiting Home Health nurse immediately called 911 after seeing her condition, stating, “What is this woman doing home in this state?” My mother was rushed back to the ER. This entire ordeal has been exhausting and heartbreaking. What should have been a straightforward two-week rehab has turned into a four-week nightmare due to neglect, poor communication, and lack of basic patient care. Many professionals failed my mother along the way, but Dignity Rehabilitation was by far the most negligent. The turnover among staff is evident, and compassion seems to be in short supply. Patients are not being properly monitored, concerns are brushed aside, and families are left feeling helpless, disrespected, and scared. If you love your family member and value their safety, I strongly urge you to look elsewhere. No family should have to experience what ours did.

We can't say enough about your wonderful staff! Everyone was kind and very helpful, my Dad Don McCartney was there for 9 days, we were there everyday to visit and noticed the excellent care he received. We especially loved Libby, Nacie, Trevor, Erica, Trisha, Jean, Stephanie & Dr. MORALES & THE RECEPTIONIST Lourdes. Love you and thank you all for taking care of my Dad! Loved my week long stay here! The nurses were great and the doctors were knowledgeable. I think the rehab was super beneficial to my recovery. They do allow pet visitation as well, which is really nice. The outdoor grounds are well-maintained.

When the hospital asks you where you want to go for rehabilitation always say Dignity East Valley Rehab for the best people and the best care! Home is the best place to be but when you can’t go home this place is the best to be. The staff are excellent and the therapy is hard but you feel yourself getting stronger. All of the therapists are great. From my previous stay, After recovering through a traumatic experience, this rehab facility has made me feel so welcomed and comfortable, almost like home. The staff is lovely and so caring , I would recommend this facility to everyone. Nurse Kylie was the bomb! She was wonderful.
