Iconic chapel built into the red rocks of Sedona with stunning panoramic views.

An absolutely beautiful and peaceful place to visit in Sedona. The views from this site are stunning, with sweeping panoramas of the surrounding red rock formations that make it a must-see stop. The setting feels calm and reflective, whether you’re there to admire the architecture, take photos, or simply enjoy the scenery. The Chapel of the Holy Cross, built in 1956, is uniquely constructed directly into the red rock cliffs, which makes it both architecturally impressive and spiritually moving. The design blends seamlessly with the landscape and adds to the sense of serenity. Parking can be challenging during busy hours, so patience is important and it’s best to follow posted parking rules. Once you’re there, the experience is well worth it. Highly recommend for anyone visiting Sedona.

Such a beautiful amazing spiritual place. The views are amazing, the chapel is beautiful and you feel at peace. It's a MUST when visiting Sedona. Parking is limited and you may have to drive up and down a few times to find a parking spot which is the most time consuming part. They only have porta-potties for restrooms which is located near the gate entrance at the bottom of the hill. They also have people in golf carts that will bring you up to the chapel and back down to your car. You can light a candle for a loved one. Votive is $1 and a 5 day candle is $5. They have a gift shop in the downstairs of the chapel with lots of beautiful items.

What an amazing spot in Sedona! This amazing chapel is literally nestled and embeded into the Sedona red rock!! The chapel was completed in 1956 after 18 months of construction. Built on Coconino National Forest land, the chapel was commissioned by local rancher and sculptor Marguerite Brunswig Staude, who had been inspired in 1932 by the newly constructed Empire State Building to build such a church. This chapel was built for just $300,000.

Inspiring, that's the first word that comes to mind when I think of the Chapel of the Holy Cross. Mounted south facing on a mountainside, it is both beautiful and calming. Once you make the climb to the Chapel, the views are legendary. Venture inside the Chapel, and tranquility awaits. While small in stature, the placement of Jesus on the cross, in front of a full glass window, offers a religious experience, even if youre not of the Christian faith. It is an offering to reverence, faith and an acute eye for well executed architecture. Tip, for parking, if there is an open spot on your drive in, park further down the hill, as it is an easy walk up. Should you drive further up Chapel Rd for better parking, you might need to exercise some patience for a parking spot. The nice thing is that even if it is congested, a spot will open up as people are coming, and going at a pretty good clip. Last word, do not park in the adjacent neighborhood, as it is strictly prohibited. Enjoy the tranquility.

Easily one of the most wonderful stops we made on our trip. We spent time here enjoying the views and peaceful vibe. Everything from the drive in to the walk up the ramp was stunning. Once you reach the entry you are greeted by friendly staff. I can understand why it has so many good reviews. We picked up some items from the amazing ladies in the gift shop and enjoy part of a mass. The gift shop had things packed into every available space so take your time and you’ll find something for sure. Most are religious items, however there are many items that were not. So many people showed for mass, they placed chairs outside to maximize the amount of people who could enjoy it. Parking is a bit tricky, with only a few handicapped spaces, and the walk uphill once you find a spot made people a bit frustrated - I would suggest trying to find a slow time. We went on a Friday afternoon and it was pretty busy. I have to assume earlier weekdays would be better. You can drop people who can’t do the uphill walk at the top of the hill but getting a vehicle turned around and back down can be tough and take a bit. They have team members on golf carts if you can get one! Take a small car if you can!
