We stopped here for dinner while visiting Tucson after taking the Amtrak train from Marshall, Texas to Tucson, Arizona. This restaurant is right next to the AC Hotel Tucson Downtown where we were staying, so it was an easy walk over for dinner after arriving in town. If you’re staying downtown or coming in on the train, the location is very convenient. The restaurant actually has two separate dining areas with different entrances. When we first walked into one side they asked if we had a reservation. Since we didn’t, they kindly directed us around the corner to the other dining entrance where walk-ins were seated. We were able to get a table without any trouble. The staff was friendly and welcoming from the start. Service was smooth throughout the evening and the food was excellent. The steaks were cooked perfectly and the sides were very good. Everything came out well prepared, well presented, and tasted delicious. The atmosphere inside is great. Exposed brick walls, warm lighting, and a lively dining room give it a nice upscale feel while still being comfortable and relaxed. It is on the pricier side, but the quality matched the price. Dinner for two was about $175 including drinks, and everything we had was very good. If you’re visiting downtown Tucson, staying at the nearby hotels, or arriving by Amtrak like we did, this is a great place to enjoy a quality steak dinner. Tip: If you don’t have a reservation, try the second dining entrance where they were seating walk-ins. Recommended visit: Dinner.

I traveled here on business and was able to go out for dinner. What a surprise this restaurant was. I’m kind of a steak snob, so I was ready to be a bit disappointed, but to my surprise everything was on point. The steak was juicy & tender, Rochelle my server provided the perfect amount of service (not too much, but my drink never ran out) and u was able to visit with my family while we’re at dinner together (via FaceTime). I will definitely be back there next time I’m in Tucson.

Nice place, I think slightly overpriced for the food items. I would say excellent drinks, good food, good service …but nothing spectacular….chips and salsa were good, smoky flavor to the salsa. The lobster queso fundito was good, But they brought it with Chicharron and I don’t eat that. So the waiter brought chips, nice! We each drank Julian Drew’s Cadillac margarita they were so delicious… We had 1 more! We ate filet mignon. My favorite steak is really a ribeye, but it was priced higher than the fillet. The. The beans that came with the steak were good, The salad was so soaked with dressing, it was wilted. Service was good, but not spectacular. The waitress that brought us our dinner, not the regular waiter, reached over my friend to serve me my plate…. I thought that to be a little rude. Overall good, not A place I would return to considering the price I wish I would have taken pictures before we started eating….

This was an awesome place! One, it was open on Thanksgiving. Two, the turkey dinner was amazing! You got everything on the plate- white and dark meat, mashed potatoes with gravy, dressing, corn, green beans, mac and cheese, and a dessert table. The bar was cool too. It is a very big place. We didn't order the lobster, but it looked amazing.

⭐️⭐️⭐️ (3/5) We are frequent visitors to Tucson and love exploring the food scene, so we were excited to try Charro Steak & Del Rey. The ambiance is beautiful, sultry enough for a romantic night out, yet still welcoming for families or groups celebrating together. Definitely insta-worthy. We were warmly welcomed and quickly seated, which was a great start. Chips and salsa arrived quickly, but it took a while before water and drinks made it to the table. Our server explained that one of our cocktails required a trip to their sister restaurant, which contributed to the delay. Salsa offered so many delicious flavors, combined it was a jackpot. We ordered the Chef’s Cut of the night along with the tableside Caesar salad. The salad was a highlight w/ fun presentation, great story, and absolutely delicious. Unfortunately, nearly 30 minutes after ordering, we were told the entrée was no longer available. We quickly pivoted to another option, but by the time the steak arrived (about an hour into the meal), it was barely warm and slightly overcooked. The flavor of the Montana grass-fed beef was excellent, but the execution missed the mark for what should have been a standout dish. Dessert saved the evening, the lava cake was excellent. However, timing was again an issue: my original coffee cocktail couldn’t be made, so I switched to a chocolate espresso martini, which arrived after the ice cream with our dessert had already started melting. Overall, Charro Steak & Del Rey offers wonderful ambiance and great flavors, but our evening was overshadowed by timing issues, long delays, and missed expectations for a fine dining experience. I truly believe the food is very good here, just wish the service flow matched the quality of the ingredients.
