I really wanted to love the new Founders Dog Park, but after visiting, I’m honestly just frustrated. If you remember the old park across the street, you know what we lost: a spacious, well-thought-out area with plenty of shade and seating. What Queen Creek has replaced it with feels like a massive step backward in every category. From the parking lot, the park looks great—the fence is tall and secure, and the grass looks vibrantly green. But the moment you step inside, the problems begin: The "Swamp" Factor: The grass is kept far too long (3–4 inches), meaning even on a dry day, your shoes and pants end up soaked. Maintenance Issues: There are several broken sprinkler heads that have created stagnant pools of muddy water. The Mud Ring: They outlined the grass with dirt and gravel. Dogs run from the wet, tall grass into the dirt, creating a muddy paste that cakes onto their paws immediately. Poor Design & Layout The previous park was spacious and easy to navigate. This new version feels half the size and is awkwardly shaped: Odd Proportions: The "big dog" section narrows at the entrance, which kills the flow. Instead of dogs having a long runway to sprint, they get bottle-necked. Walking Hazards: Because of the odd shape, people trying to play fetch are constantly dodging people walking in the only open space at the far end. It’s chaotic and crowded. Lack of Amenities: Seating is sparse compared to the old location, and the poop stations are a joke. They are few and far between, forcing you to trek across the park just to get a bag or find a bin. Hygiene and Safety Concerns This was the most upsetting part of the visit. The park is, frankly, dirty. The Waste Problem: There is uncollected waste everywhere. Even worse, an alarming number of dogs seem to have diarrhea here. It’s a major health hazard for other pets, and there really needs to be a strictly enforced rule about keeping sick dogs at home. The Atmosphere: Between the lack of space and the sheer volume of dogs, the energy is frantic. As I was leaving, a massive dog fight broke out in the large dog section. The Verdict: I took two clean, well-groomed dogs to the park and brought home two muddy, messes that required immediate baths. Between the poor drainage, the bad layout, and the lack of basic cleanliness, I won't be coming back. Queen Creek missed the mark on this one.
