My experience was interesting! I was in the Master's program it was a journey, I started off to a bumpy road I did not know in Grad School there is no "C" passing it is actually failing the classes and it is up to the Dean, Professor and Advisor to approve the C, or retake the coursework. I made 2 C's within the 18 months, they granted the C's and later I had to retake some classes due to grade dispute, never have a grade dispute with a Professor, they pretty much win, in my dispute I was withdrawn from the class and did not know it until It no longer appeared online as a class that I was in attendance, it stayed on my transcript as "with drawn" and noted the reason. The hidden fees that they make you pay for as graduation approaches as followed the last class FA doesn't pay for that class I had to pay a very high fee in order to graduate and of course, cap and grow and application fee. I was so upset because I did not know until the last minute about the last class FA do not cover you will have to come out of your pocket to cover the expense. "Overall", It was a good school to attend the advisor was awesome helping you. I will attend again, since I know about the fees now and to be aware of some of the professor. I do recommend GCU!

I’ve had three children go to GCU and it’s been a wonderful experience for each of them. I love the fact that it’s a closed campus with security checkpoints. The school is so great at helping kids get great internships which has helped with success after graduation.

Absolutely horrible. This University has to have the WORST policies to ever be enforced at any institution in recent history. I use military tuition assistance to pay for my schooling, as such, I'm required to submit a request for said tuition assistance for every class I take. The tuition assistance request must be made 7 days prior to the class start date. This wouldn't be an issue if the University ensured that students are aware of classes that they have been registered for. However, the schools policy states that councelors are not required to inform students when they are registered for a class. The councelors will simply register you for a class without notifying you that they've registered you. Even after explaining that I need to be consulted personally prior to registering me for classes due to how my Tuition Assistance works, my student councelor has continued to register me for classes without my knowledge. This has resulted in me frantically attempting to request to withdraw from classes because I didn't have enough time to apply for Tuition Assistance. Going further into GCUs policy's, it says that full tuition can only be refunded if you ask to drop the class before it starts. This combination of idiotic policy's creates a situation where students are unable to withdraw from their classes prior to their start date due to the fact that NO ONE TOLD THE STUDENT THAT THEY WERE REGISTERED! Thus, causing the student to incur the fee associated with dropping the class during the first week of the course. The most aggravating part of trying to navigate this system, is that even when you request to withdraw before the class start date, the counselors might just forget or decide not to remove you! This has happened with my past 2 classes, where I have requested that I be removed from the class, but then I go into Halo (GCUs version of Canvas), and find that I'm still in the class and the class has already started. It was an absolute nightmare trying to escape paying the stupid fee for a mistake that the councelors made. What was even worse, the first time that this happened was during the government shutdown. There was no guarantee that I was going to get paid and no way for me to even try to request Tuition assistance. Despite this, when I attempted to explain the situation to the councelors I was rebuffed several times and told that there was nothing that they could do. After a week or two completely stressing out over how I was going to pay the fee and rent without knowing if I was going to get paid at all that month, I finally explained my situation in a way that the councelors understood to the point that they were willing to waive the fee. After that whole debacle I requested that I be removed from all future classes because I no longer wanted to attend classes at GCU. Now today Dec 1, I've been made aware that I was registered for another class without my prior knowledge and it started today! I'm separating from the military soon and won't be getting paid my same wage. I'm desperately trying to get all my paperwork in order so I can get back home for Christmas this year. I don't need to be needlessly stressing out over having to drop a class from a University that I explicitly told that I want nothing to do with. TLDR: DON'T GO TO SCHOOL HERE!!!!

would not recommend this school for a masters program. it has been nothing but a headache to deal with student services and the lack of support given when my dad passed away last year is concerning. I wish NAU offered the CMHC program fully online because I had a much better experience with them for my undergrad in social work.

I was invited to an orientation as a prospective PhD candidate. This was a pleasant trip and very informative. We had a full day of activities and they included breakfast, lunch and dinner. Excellent itinerary which was time conscious and included a campus tour. We had the opportunity to visit the campus bookstore which was a treat. I have applied for the upcoming semester and encourage all students seeking a BA, MA and especially PhD to seriously consider a Grand Canyon University. The admission counselors were very helpful and answered all my questions with no hesitation and basically the follow up that I have received since I left the campus is incredible. That type of support is really needed will you try to finish your PhD and I am excited to be called a member of the Grand Canyon University community. Go Lopes!
