Although this is an emergency hospital, the patient has been waiting in bed for more than four hours without being examined by a doctor. During this time, several doctors appeared to be engaged in personal conversations instead of attending to patients. Additionally, some nurses and staff seemed to be occupied with eating, personal grooming, and talking on their phones rather than providing medical care. This situation is very concerning, as patients in an emergency department require timely attention and proper medical care. I respectfully request that this matter be reviewed and addressed to ensure that all patients receive the care and attention they deserve. Thank you for your prompt attention to this matter.

I have been hospitalized at HonorHealth Deer Valley since December 31, and today is January 5. This is an updated review after being here multiple days following back surgery, and I can confidently say this hospital is not a good hospital. I am in severe, constant pain, consistently rating it a 9 out of 10, and my pain is repeatedly dismissed. I am prescribed two pain medications, but they change the medication schedule without telling you. My meds were originally due every three hours, and then they were changed to every five hours with zero communication. No explanation, no discussion — just more pain and confusion, leaving patients completely in the dark. On top of that, they treat a muscle relaxer that I’ve been on for over three years like it’s some extreme or dangerous medication. I am prescribed this medication three times a day — morning, noon, and night — and have been stable on it for years. Yet here, they suddenly act like it can only be given every six hours, and they behave like it’s a major issue. When I explain that it hasn’t even been effective for over two years, they respond with attitude rather than a conversation or explanation. What makes this worse is that certain nurses try to flip the script on you. When I calmly ask questions or try to understand why my medications or schedules are changed, I am accused of being rude, which is completely false. I am not being rude — I am advocating for my own care and asking for explanations about medications I have taken for years. Instead of addressing the questions professionally, they respond defensively, threaten to “tell the doctor you’re refusing,” or act like I am the problem, which is absurd and unacceptable. Most of the nurses are very rude, dismissive, and act irritated when you advocate for yourself. I do not appreciate being treated the way I’ve been treated, especially while recovering from major spinal surgery. Asking about medication timing, effectiveness, or post-op pain control should not be treated as an inconvenience, but here it is. I am also a 10-year stroke survivor, which they clearly do not take seriously. That alone should require better monitoring, better communication, and better care, none of which I have received. Yes, there are a couple of nurses who are okay, but they are the exception. The majority are uncaring, rude, and extremely difficult to deal with. Communication is terrible, compassion is almost nonexistent, and patients are left to suffer unnecessarily. This hospital dismisses severe pain, changes medication schedules without informing patients, treats long-term prescriptions like they are dangerous or suspicious, and blames patients for asking simple questions about their own care. I have never experienced anything like this in a hospital, and it is truly unacceptable. I would never return here, and I strongly warn anyone considering HonorHealth Deer Valley to go literally anywhere else. This hospital fails at pain management, patient communication, and basic human decency.

Review for HonorHealth Deer Valley Medical Center Try to avoid this hospital at all costs. I had back surgery on December 31, and as of January 2 I am still in extreme, unbearable pain. The way pain management is handled here is absolutely unacceptable. I am supposedly prescribed TWO pain medications, yet they have been dismissed, delayed, or flat-out ignored every single time. I shouldn’t have to fight this hard for medication that was already ordered. I am also a 10-year stroke survivor, which makes this even more frustrating and dangerous. Instead of taking that seriously, most of the doctors and staff act dismissive and irritated, like my pain is an inconvenience to them. To be clear — there are a few nurses here who are decent and actually try. But the majority are crap, rude, dismissive, and extremely hard to deal with. Compassion is rare in this place. Being treated like this after spinal surgery is unacceptable. No one should be ignored while suffering at this level. This hospital does not advocate for patients, does not listen, and does not provide proper post-op care. I would never come back here, and I strongly recommend others go literally anywhere else.

Doc was thorough, nurses friendly, overall experience good not great. ... Security guard extremely unprofessional and rude to my out of town guest visiting me in ER. She had my kids with her ages 12 and 9 and little one was not allowed access to see me. They were made to wait outdoors. This is unacceptable. Guard used condescending tone and should be held accountable for choosing to demonstrate poor customer service. Yes, there was a sign suggesting children should not be admitted to enter as visitors. If it was mandatory for children to be excluded, then state it clearly. Also, water was denied to me due to possible alterations in imaging for future tests. This is the desert. Water is essential. ALWAYS.

I stayed in observational unit 2-107 and was very well cared for. Shout out to my nurses Dawn, Sydney, Jon, Kyle, Grace, Courtney, Kai, Jane and others. My doctors were very helpful also; Dr. Wong, Dr. Hong Cui, and Dr. Psalter. There were other staff members that added to my experience and deserve recognition and since I was delirious when I was first taken in, I can’t remember or spell all their names correctly but nonetheless they’re care to me is still very much appreciated. The staff was very helpful, kind, patient and in my opinion saved my life.
