exploring the museum and grounds. If you have any interest in mining history or how boom-and-bust towns shaped the West, this is a solid stop. The park is centered around Douglas Mansion, which overlooks the Verde Valley from above town, and the setting alone makes it worth the visit. From the patios and windows you get wide, clear views of the valley below and the distant mountain ranges, which show up well in the photos. Inside, the exhibits are well laid out and easy to follow, even if you’re not a mining expert. Displays cover Jerome’s copper mining days, the people who worked there, and the equipment they relied on, including early safety gear like the breathing apparatus shown in the photos. The museum does a good job explaining how dangerous mining was and how technology evolved in response to real disasters. We also watched the video on Jerome’s history, which was worth the time and helped tie everything together before walking through the rest of the exhibits. Overall, the park is well maintained, informative, and not overwhelming. It’s a good fit for anyone who enjoys museums, Western history, or learning how towns like Jerome rose and fell around mining. If you’re looking for something quick, you can move through it in under an hour, but if you like to read exhibits and take in the views, plan a bit more time. This is definitely a worthwhile stop when visiting Jerome or passing through the Verde Valley.

Very cool place they had a free day the day we went. There was live music of older time music which was really cool. The staff answered all my questions about the place. It was cool to learn about all the cooper and how things were done. They had someone also doing metal smithing which was awesome to see and ask questions about. He built his furnace which was awesome. I also got shocked by the dynamite explosive thing which was shocking lol. Amazing to see working still and looked up later how it looked inside you could see the backside but I was curious lol.

Great spot to learn about local history as well as copper mining and geology. The video orientation inside the Doulas Mansion is a helpful overview to give you some context before exploring the rest of the mansion. Side note: if you’re using google maps to navigate, make sure it’s taking you on paved roads because it took us on a rather wild “shortcut” on our way there.
