Mountain View Park is a sports & courts business located in Phoenix, Arizona.

The park is always well-kept, with a new playground for children, a full-sized basketball court with (concrete) bleachers, a full-sized beach volleyball court (also near the bleachers), 8-10 lighted tennis courts and a very large lot great for dog-walking or an impromptu soccer/football game. The two buildings — the Thunderbird Arts Center and the Mountain View Community Center — are well-frequented and offer many programs for the community. The grass and trees and other flora are well-kept. The parking also nearly always empty

I met a woman who wanted a whole bench section to herself because she brought a dog that “didn’t like other dogs.” Her dog wasn’t upset at all, but she was. The park worker I spoke on the phone with defended her, which didn't make any sense, and ultimately said to call the cops if needed. But first, I had to explain to the parks and recs worker, Candy, that it’s a public park and people shouldn’t be hogging sections with multiple benches, because she didn’t acknowledge it at all. The worker told me to do what the rude woman at the park said. She just advised me to give her the entire space and adjust my walk times and days around her. If someone is yelling at me to leave an area, realistically I cannot approach them to coordinate a schedule with their ideal times and days. It’s common sense not to bring unfriendly animals to a public park during peak hours when other people also want to visit, and simultaneously expect everyone to accommodate you on top of that. Unfortunately, the city does accommodate that behavior. The impact is a nuisance to the community and creates an unsafe, trashy (un)shared space. The City of Phoenix needs to be more aware of the harsh reality of increasing homelessness and should have a better response other than just giving up the park to inhabitants upon request.

Wanted to love this park, but unfortunately safety was an issue, a lot of unhoused individuals walking through and near the playground, at the time nobody was bothering anyone, but the weed smoke was overwhelming. The playground and views are nice.

Came here early morning and hiked up to catch the sunrise. Nice playground, walking path and a community garden. Unfortunately overflowing trash cans from the weekend.
