REI Experiences Arizona

The ONE time I’ve ever had to make a return here on a pair of shoes that hurt my tendon on my foot, the employee tells me I have poop on my shoes and that I have to go home to clean them before the return. There was a LITTLE bit of mud in the corner of the shoe yes but to openly say theres poop on my shoe in front of all the other customers is just… wild. He then proceeded to be less than helpful and told me I can go to 2 of their other locations. I came here because this is where I bought them, but after this return gets settled I will probably try to avoid this place as the staff have been dismal at best. Go to AZ Hiking Shack and support a small business!!!!

I really want to love this place but, unfortunately, the staff lets down the experience - at least this time around. I get it, at the end of a day everyone is tired. But, watching repeated, less-than-positive encounters between the employees and customers left me deciding to take my business elsewhere. It is a shame but seems to be the way of the world nowadays. The products and facility is good. But, people do business with people. If that part fails, little can be done.

Fantastic Service and My New Favorite Hiking Boots! I came to REI Co-op looking for new hiking boots, and the experience was excellent from start to finish. One of the associates spent real time helping me find the perfect fit and introduced me to Oboz — which have now become my favorite hiking boots. Their patience and knowledge made the whole shoe-shopping process actually enjoyable. The store was clean, organized, and everyone I interacted with was friendly. Checkout was smooth and easy, and I ended up picking up a few other items while I was there. Overall, a great experience. This REI location definitely sets the standard for helpful service and quality gear.

Took in a return and it was the most pleasant experience I have ever had. Just a couple of questions and the money was back on my card before I left the counter. I also needed some winter gear for an upcoming trip and I got advice from 3 different people about the best (and most economical) options. Highly recommend!

I have been a long time REI customer and this is my primary location! However, today’s experience was less than desirable thanks to one of the cashiers, Her name is Jen. It’s always surprising to me when you are being extremely friendly and cheerful to somebody but their attitude in life and their attitude towards you is absolutely degrading and talking down to you and being extremely snobby and unprofessional, which completely ruined my trip to REI today. I just wish her a better day and whatever is causing her attitude to get fixed sooner than later Happy holidays Jen!
