We stayed at Saguaro Lake Guest Ranch for two nights and also booked a horseback ride, and it was honestly such an amazing experience. Everyone on the ranch was welcoming and kind — truly every single person we interacted with. It’s wild how you’re still in Arizona, but it feels like you’re in a completely different state. The views are unreal and so peaceful. We rode horses with Alissa as our guide and she was incredible — calm, knowledgeable, and just really enjoyable to ride with. The food was phenomenal. All three courses were provided by an amazing chef, and they were super accommodating with dietary restrictions when asked. After dinner, there was always a bonfire going with everything for s’mores, which made the nights feel extra special. There are so many little trails around the ranch that lead to beautiful hidden views and give the whole place an oasis-like feel. Dinner is communal, which we actually loved — sitting with others staying on the ranch and meeting people from different places was such a fun part of the experience. John runs the ranch and he, his wife, and their dog Bandit were all so welcoming and accommodating. You can tell they really care about the experience they’re creating here. This stay was so good we already want to make it an annual thing. Highly recommend for a weekend getaway, horseback riding, or just unplugging somewhere beautiful.

Beautiful property and scenery. Having meals included is nice, but rooms are in need of updates and management needs to re-evaluate how they handle guest issues. Unfortunately, multiple guests, including me, got sick after a meal (bone-in chicken). Most of us lost at least full day being sick. Management told guests it was “definitely not the food”, it was most likely noro virus from a prior guest that had checked out before most of us even got there. I wasn’t told this until I followed up a second time while checking out 3 days later. I also had to dispute incorrect charges put on my room which was annoying. There was also a miscommunication between the ranch staff and the stable about my horseback ride reservation. I had to reschedule it due to being sick, but it got cancelled and refunded the night before because the ranch contacted them without my permission asking about a refund when I told them I was sick. I only learned about it because I was able to check my emails. Thankfully the stable reinstated the ride about an hour before it started at 9am and I was still able to go. But it caused unnecessary stress and loss of sleep the night before. Additionally, despite a no pets policy, a dog that constantly barked was placed in the room next to mine on my last night there. Management removed the incorrect charges to my room and gave a $100 credit for the dog noise. But there was no consideration for the guests who got sick due to poor contamination management, whether it was food borne or not. The manager, Sherry Lee, said it “didn’t feel right” to offer compensation for that. Not even for one night. She said no hotel would compensate for that; however, this is not a hotel. More like a luxury camp so I would expect greater guest consideration. The location is special, but communication is a headache and management is ok with guests leaving unhappy. I gave them multiple opportunities to get clarification and make it right, but unfortunately the guest care at this place does not match the environment.

Absolutely incredible trail ride and cowboy dinner! My best-friend and I came for a girls getaway, and it exceeded all expectations. A a horse person, the horses were extremely well taken care of and all had shoes! The dinner after was absolutely delicious. What a hidden gem just outside of the city!

WOW! Absolutely blown away by this place! I came for a wedding but will be back for the food! Lamb stroganoff with homemade noodles, buckwheat pancakes, an amazing lunch of butternut squash soup and salad with goat cheese and pecans- Chef Scott is incredible! The rooms are quaint and impeccably clean- I loved having my morning coffee on the front porch while it rained- so charming! The staff are warm and welcoming, very accommodating- another family was here and they were gluten free, dairy free and the food was great- I was impressed! Will be back
