I stopped by Sportsman’s Warehouse in Chandler and was really impressed. The store has a massive selection of camping and outdoor gear, everything from quality tents and backpacks to cooking gear and camp lights. The staff were friendly, took time to answer my questions, and pointed me toward gear that fit my budget without pushing unnecessary upgrades. The layout is easy to navigate, the parking was hassle-free, and I appreciated the “Gear for Every Adventure” vibe. If you’re gearing up for a weekend out in nature around Phoenix, this place is a strong choice.

2/1/26 @ 4:00 pm - Pure Failure - This store has never been good from day one that it opened up about 4 years ago. This was my third or fourth time at this store since it opened up as I have been a regular customer at SW for the last 20 years but I have mainly been to the store in Mesa and North Phoenix. I walked in today to purchase an $1100 firearm and hoping that it would be quick since I've done my homework and to just buy the firearm since their website indicated that they have the firearm at this store. There were two employees behind the counter at the guns department. One looked like a Hispanic guy with short beard and wearing glasses and the other one was also a young Caucasian bearded guy. Both were helping customers so I patiently waited at the counter for 25 minutes. The Hispanic guy was making sales to a group of customers that were all together however the Caucasian guy was assisting a customer that was interested in checking out every one of the guns at the store (Gun Hopping). Not one of the two employees behind the register once even acknowledged by presence or perhaps to let me know that they will be assisting me shortly. The (Gun Hopper) left and the guy helping him looked at me and said, I'll be with with you in a bit and just disappeared into the thin air. A few minutes after that the Hispanic guy finalized his sales and while he was finalizing his transaction another customer walked in with question about ammo while I am still waiting there for 30 minutes and he started to help him out. At that point, all of the sign were there to not give a penny of my business to this store. When I started to leave, he asked (Have you been helped bro???) Really?? The employees could care less about taking care of customers. Poorly trained behind the counter that sells the most valuable and expensive merchandise in the store that can make the most revenue for the store. I've noticed there were hardly any customers at the store on Sunday. Well because again, when a store employees are poorly trained and the manager is hiding and not monitoring the the activity, the business will not succeed. Went to the from counter and asked for the manager. He came out and I explained the situation that how lousy the customer service is at this store and that they need to implement at numbering system or even customer acknowledgment. He was apologetic but too late as I am taking my business elsewhere. Scheels and AZ Tactical Firearms customer service surpasses this place by 100x over. I should have gone there to begin with. Not coming back here anymore as this place is Pure Failure.

Robert provided outstanding assistance while helping me build my AR-15. He was extremely knowledgeable, took the time to explain each component clearly, and made sure I understood my options throughout the process. His professionalism and willingness to answer questions made the experience smooth and enjoyable. I truly appreciated his expertise and customer-focused approach, and I would highly recommend working with him to anyone looking for knowledgeable and reliable assistance.

01/02/2026 7:20pm. Robert and Hector at the Gun Counter. Robert was the employee at the gun counter. I waited at the gun counter and the dude completely ignored me, helped people who came after me, and when I finally asked for help he said “multiple others in line.” I came to buy a very expensive item and was about to walk out and go to AZGuns. The guns showed IN STOCK, but of course I came 40 minutes before close and, as expected, when I was finally helped Robert told me that the guns were on a box truck and not inventoried yet, and that I would have to go online to purchase. Hector then came up to me and showed me that the exact shotgun was sitting on the shelf when I asked to look at alternatives, because I called his bluff when he tried not to help me purchase a gun at 7:30. I told him two other people came in before me and they skipped me and helped them. He said they couldn't sell to me because they close at 8:00 and the background check takes 30 minutes. I called out Robert right there and he said it was a different model; I let him know it was the exact same model and price. I told Robert I would look for alternatives because I had a feeling he was giving me retail BS. That's when Hector came up, showed the exact gun, and gave me the same excuse that they couldn't sell to me. Other employees walked around without even looking at me while I stood at the counter. It felt like I was invisible. Perhaps I'll wear an orange vest next time to stand out! They completely ignored me and did not care about my business. As a retail employee, you should work past closing time if you have people waiting in line for over 30 minutes. No wonder they were ignoring me and giving me the runaround. This was my first time at a Sportsman's Warehouse, and it will be my last. If upper management can provide an email or number I can reach out to, I would greatly appreciate it. I was about to spend well over $1,000 on a shotgun and intended to buy much more as a new resident of Arizona. I read the reviews about the same poor employees and their lazy attitudes, but despite that I wanted to give the place a chance. The fact that three employees were mindlessly walking around and helping other people who arrived after me without even acknowledging or looking at me until the very end was ultimately frustrating.

This is my favorite place to shop/buy new firearms. The custom services is second to none! Patrick is a friendly face that is a real great asset in the department. He is nice, cordial, remembered my MOM'S name any mine. Plus he know his stuff, he told me all about my SAR9 we were buying. Great experiences here as we've bought 6 guns in 3 months. Its because of the ease of communication with the staff. Everyone has been excellent in Sportsman's! But Patrick is a standout. But these guys work HARD!
