Surprise Lake

Went to check out the Lake? Today more of a man made pond. I rode my bike there early in the morning about 5-6am. The ducks were waking up, some were sleeping. Geese were honking and being loud. Early sunrise walkers were about and either taking their dogs for a nice walk or playing in the pet areas. Or they were getting some excercise. There is plenty for kids to do as you can see from the several playgrounds and shaded picnic tables about. There's a library close by and if you enjoy fishing! You can do that as well. There's Bass, Catfish, Trout and a couple other species. Though there is a daily limit..while I was there, people were getting their fishing on and it would have been nice to have brought a pole to have fun myself.. But I didn't have a cooler and I wasn't planning on it. I didn't see and dead fish and there wasn't a stinky lake smell that seems inherent with city fishing. Just lots of ducks and noisy geese. The gravel looks to be raked daily and there wasn't a significant amount of foule poo about.. Simply put it was one of the cleanest parks I've ever been too! No bums or creepers here. Just peace and tranquility here. Perfect for a nice walk of city fishing and resting or just to admire the sunrise. In final, a very nice park to escape too. I will be going to this park more, and a very good possibility of catching me fishing here. :)

Very well maintained. Lots of grass, trees, a play area. A Sports center, pool, and a library. Plenty of parking!

Great place to take kids to have fun in the park!! Allowing for parents to show kids how to fish. Great space, would suggest a few more shaded areas around the lake.

SWIMMING AND WADING PROHIBITED. Couldn't find any reviews that stated this and as we are new to the area, we weren't sure. The pond is clean and looks great to fish in or feed ducks. The playground is big and there was an ice cream truck when we came. Overall awesome area, just hoping to cool off and wasn't able to here.
