Resort Golf Course - Two award-winning courses on Fort McDowell Yavapai Nation land

Played WeKoPa recently and it absolutely lived up to the hype. We played both the Cholla and Saguaro courses, and each one was outstanding in its own way. Conditions were top-notch across the board. Fairways were clean and well kept, greens rolled true, and the desert layouts make every hole feel unique without being gimmicky. The scenery alone is worth the round, especially with the mountain backdrop and wide-open views. Staff was friendly and organized from check-in through the turn, and pace of play stayed right where it should be. Practice facilities were solid too, which made warming up easy before tee time. You can tell they take pride in keeping the place in top shape. If you’re looking for a course that’s challenging but fair, visually stunning, and run professionally, this is one of the best public golf experiences you’ll find. I’d play both courses again without hesitation.

We recently had the opportunity to play the Saguaro Course at We-Ko-Pa Golf Club, and the experience exceeded every expectation. From the moment we arrived, the staff was welcoming, professional, and made the entire check-in process seamless. The clubhouse and pro shop are top-tier, offering an impressive selection of apparel, gear, and unique We-Ko-Pa merchandise. It’s easily one of the best golf shops we’ve visited. We warmed up at the practice facility prior to our round, which is outstanding. The range, multiple putting greens, and short-game areas are thoughtfully laid out and extremely well maintained. We also opted to use rental clubs, which were premium Callaway sets and performed exceptionally well — honestly as good as any rental experience we’ve had. The Saguaro Course itself is phenomenal. Designed by Coore & Crenshaw, it plays like a traditional, walkable course that flows naturally through the Sonoran Desert. The fairways are generous, but the approach shots and greens require precision, making the course both enjoyable and challenging. One of the best aspects is the complete absence of homes or roads — just pure desert, mountain views, and golf. Course conditions were excellent throughout the round, and the on-course amenities were equally impressive. The carts were well stocked, GPS-equipped, and the halfway house offered a great selection of food and drinks right when we needed it. The back nine, especially near sunset, delivered some of the most scenic golf we’ve ever experienced. We wrapped up the day back in the pro shop for a souvenir before heading out. Whether you’re visiting Arizona during peak season or planning a golf getaway at any time of year, We-Ko-Pa is an absolute must-play. We can’t recommend it highly enough and are grateful for such a memorable experience.

This course consistently came highly recommended after searching around the internet for top-end desert golf in the Scottsdale area, and it absolutely did not disappoint. I played Cholla, and the course overall was in excellent shape, with nicely maintained tee boxes and beautiful greens. The course represents what I’d consider to be true desert golf, and with that comes an excellent challenge. The views of the surrounding mountains are basically panoramic, and a joy to take in. Rental clubs were very nice as well. The facilities are above what I anticipated; the clubhouse is beautiful, clean, and perfectly maintained, as was the range and halfway house. Frankly, there’s little to complain about. And compared to other courses of the same caliber in the region, the price point is incredibly reasonable. If you are considering this course, just book it now!

Spectacular golf course and customer service. Would highly recommend if you are ever in Arizona. The food, range, golf course, views, staff are all top notch. The pro shop has tons of awesome things inside and quality brands to choose from. The course design is so much fun and the course is tournament quality. Definitely exceeded my expectations and is my go to recommendation for anyone traveling to Arizona. I will definitely be back. Don’t forget to check out “the most photographed wolf” on the driving range. He is so cool.

This course layout will make you want to play again and swear that you'll never return. It's in great shape, I played a tournament at the end of August and it was a really nice test of your game. Traps were plentiful with some big fat lips on them. The greens do not break as much as you think. I wish someone had told me before hand. You can make a 7 quickly of you get in the desert. Take your medicine and get out of there.
