About

One of Sedona's most challenging and rewarding hikes. The exposed 10-mile round trip trail gains 2,300 feet to a summit plateau with 360-degree views of Red Rock Country in all directions. Less crowded than other Sedona trails due to its difficulty.

Most beautiful trail I’ve done in Sedona yet. Brought a headlamp to catch sunset at the top. There is some snow on the top part of the trail right now but nothing too slippery. Beware of mud if you go to the canyon overlook.

One of the hidden hiking trail gems in Sedona. Not too many know about this hike and the foot traffic is very low. It’s a challenging hike, but not too intense. You will definitely get a good workout in and will need lots of water. Great views all along the way, too!

First, let's get this out of the way. If you read this is moderate, they lied. Wilson Mtn goes up the entire time you're hiking, hence the the word MOUNTAIN. The reason it's defined as DIFFICULT is rocks. It starts out as red dirt/rock, then changes quickly. It is rock strewn by the BILLIONS, all sizes and shapes. Not a HUUGE concern going up,but coming back down is extremely dangerous, if you aren't paying close attention to foot placement. If you've had knee surgery or are prone to ankle twists, take pics at the bridge and go into Sedona for a beer. Half of the trail zigzags out in the open on the side of the Mtn and if it's over 75, you better hope you took enough liquid. Once at the HALF BENCH ( flat top ) there's a couple good places to rest in shade. From there you go up the rest of the way to the wooded top with gorgeous long distance views of Sedona. * This SHOULD TAKE at least 6 hrs RT. Add 30 minutes to rest at the top, 6.5. *Great FALL hike when temps aren't but 65. Winter, not so much, because of there's snow you CANNOT SEE the billions of ankle twisters. *In military training there is a saying. Be prepared or stay home. Take a headlamp in case something happens and you have to come when it's getting dark. *Girls: for the love of Gawd, stop wearing skin tight yoga pants/shorts etc. They don't breathe and increase your temp so you sweat more. Sweat more, drink more, tired quicker. Be safe. Be smart.

This is a late post.! We did this hike back in February. We drove from Vegas for these espectacular views. This hike has a pretty steep incline but manageable. I do recommend hiking sticks but not needed. We made it to the very top and the views are breathtaking.! We had out furr baby with us the whole way and he managed to handle the hike.! I definitely recommend it.
