In most ways the Hartford Automotive Insurance companies are five stars. Having been hit many times by other drivers the Hartford is five stars. Their True Lane driving application in some ways helped me be a safer driver. In three ways I consider myself a far less safe driver. If I use GPS I don't have to look for signs and landmarks to be ready to make a turn. If a driver uses GPS they are considered by the Hartford to be a distracted driver rather than being informed on what to do or be aware of road problems. I try to advise everyone don't call me on my mobile phone. If someone does I immediately say I am driving. But I am considered to be a distracted driver for saying three words and attempt to disconnect. The third is is the largest drawback. I used to stop whenever it was safe during a caution light. Red lights have no continuity and intersections and close to home are where most collisions occur. Even though safe to stop and no chance of endangering I know drive through caution lights. Unlike virtually all huge companies the Hartford responded in less than a day in a reassuring manner. In comparison for ten years an other company has not responded in ten years. It speaks highly of the Hartford Auto insurance.

If you live in Southern Arizona and have a flat roof (which most of us do down here), DO NOT waste your time on the phone with Hartford. I spent an hour on the phone detailing every aspect of my home for a homeowners quote before finding out Hartford doesn't insure homes with flat roofs. Wouldn't you think that would be the first thing Hartford's licensed agents would tell a caller with a Southern Arizona home? Or at least one of the first questions asked?? My time matters, and I resent having it wasted.

AARP keeps sending info on Hartford for auto insurance and I have tried 3 times to try and receive a quote from Hartford and they have declined to give me a quote in 2 different states at three separate times. I have excellent credit and seem to be insurable by every other company I contact. This seems to be just another AARP come on at least for me.

This has been the worst experience I’ve had in over 30 years of working — hands down. Filing for short-term disability through this company has been nothing but a nightmare from start to finish. The lack of communication, delays, and outright negligence in processing my claim have caused serious and irreversible consequences in my life. Because of the delays in receiving my disability payments, I’ve come dangerously close to losing my home, and my vehicle was actually repossessed. This process — which is supposed to be in place to support people during medical hardship — has only added more stress and financial hardship to an already difficult situation. I followed all instructions, provided every document requested, and made countless calls just trying to get updates. Each time I was met with new excuses, inconsistent information, or complete silence. There was absolutely no sense of urgency, no accountability, and no real concern for how this was impacting my life. No one should ever have to go through this just to receive benefits they are entitled to. I would strongly advise anyone considering this company for short-term disability coverage to look elsewhere. This experience has left me emotionally and financially drained.

This insurance company is HORRIBLE for older folks. I watched them try to rob my mother blind after an auto accident. Thank God we've switched, what I'd tell anyone with an older loved one is that just because AARP recommends a company doesn't mean you should use them.
