We had a wonderful stay at CIVANA Wellness Resort & Spa. My husband and I truly enjoyed every aspect of our experience. The food was excellent, thoughtfully prepared, and consistently high quality. The classes were engaging and well organized, and we appreciated the opportunity to try activities that we would not typically have access to at home. The staff stood out as especially knowledgeable and professional; it was clear they were well educated in their respective fields, which added to the quality throughout the resort. The facilities were beautiful and well maintained, and our room was immaculate—comfortable, peaceful, and impeccably clean. Overall, our stay was both relaxing and rejuvenating. We left feeling refreshed and grateful for such a thoughtfully designed experience, and we can’t wait to return.

I had high expectations for Civana Wellness Center, but unfortunately it was a major letdown, especially for the price point. For $500 including food and poolside access, I’d give it a 5/10 at best. Let’s start with the main restaurant. The food was extremely bland, barely any seasoning, and the dishes felt cheap while trying very hard to appear upscale. It’s the kind of place that plates things beautifully but forgets flavor entirely. Definitely not worth what they charge. The spa itself is wildly overrated. There were noticeable stains on carpets and even on some of the beds, honestly worse than what you would expect at a Motel 6. The cold towels outside the steam room had visible brown stains, which was incredibly off putting. The steam rooms looked like they develop mold or maybe even algae pretty often. It is unfortunate because the steam room could have been the highlight, but cleanliness is clearly an issue. The sauna was dingy, and frankly the Arizona sun does a better job. They really try to sell you on the indoor hot tub room, but it is basically a glorified cold shower that switches to hot. Classes were okay, but many felt gimmicky rather than genuinely enriching. No vending machines anywhere on site either, which was inconvenient. Service was mixed. Jeanie was terrific and genuinely welcoming, but another blonde staff member seemed like she did not want to be there at all. Her communication was unpolished and awkward, and the fake it till you make it energy from some employees was noticeable. The massage itself was good overall, but the therapist’s touch was almost ticklish at times. Agave, Omni, and Revive spas offer a far better experience for a better price. Overall this place tries very hard to feel luxury, but it falls short where it really matters, cleanliness, quality, and value. I will not be returning anytime soon.

traveled from Maryland to Arizona after hearing great things about the spa experiences in Phoenix. I chose CIVANA because the reviews highlighted good services, strong wellness classes, and reasonable pricing for a day pass. I prepaid for day passes and spa services for both myself and my husband. The spa services themselves were excellent—we truly enjoyed them. Unfortunately, the experience afterward was frustrating due to several billing and customer service issues. At checkout, my husband was charged again for a spa service that I had already prepaid for. While they eventually agreed to remove the charge after showing proof of purchase, once we arrived home, he was charged again. We had to call to request yet another refund. The wellness classes were also poorly managed. I was scheduled for a class only 15 minutes after my spa service ended. There is no staff available to guide you, so instead of feeling relaxed, I was stressed trying to locate the class in time. When I finally arrived, I was told my spot had been given away. This discouraged me from attending the second class I was scheduled for. Later, I learned that they charge a $15 fee for missing a class. I explained that I did try to attend, but due to poor scheduling and my spot being given away, I felt it was unfair to be charged. I was told the fee would be removed, but once again, when I checked later, I had still been charged and had to call for a refund. During that call, the representative was rude and questioned whether I was late for the class, despite my explanation of what had happened. While she later claimed she didn’t mean to offend me, the interaction felt dismissive. Overall, while the spa services themselves were great, the repeated billing errors, poor class coordination, and lack of accountability in customer service significantly took away from the experience. CIVANA really needs to improve how they handle mistakes and treat their guests when issues arise. They also need to train their staff better on giving a guided tour for people who are unfamiliar with the property. They also need better systems in place for day pass holders that prepay. I would not recommend this place to anyone.

The stay itself was fine, but the spa was a mess and a huge letdown. Cleanliness was the biggest issue. The steam room clearly had mold or algae, which is unacceptable for a “luxury wellness” resort. On top of that, I overheard a staff member, Ava (who was actually very kind and professional), talking about mold problems in the air ducts that the company has had to fix over time. Hearing that as a guest was honestly alarming. The upstairs spa area looked worn and gross. There were stains all over the couches and beds, and it made me seriously question their hygiene standards. For a spa charging what they charge, you’d think they’d at least use sheets. Staff professionalism was wildly inconsistent. Ava was great, but a shorter blonde woman named Sheena was a pest my entire time there. She was rude, intrusive, and came off as completely clueless about how to behave in a spa environment. Instead of creating a calm, relaxing atmosphere, she did the opposite and dragged the whole experience down. Easily one of the least professional staff members I’ve dealt with at a spa. To be fair, the massage itself was great, and the therapist did an excellent job. Unfortunately, that was the only redeeming part. Overall, this was not a professional spa experience, and it absolutely does not live up to Civana’s branding or pricing.

Just came back from 5 days at Civana Wellness Resort and Spa. The service here was OUTSTANDING. From the front desk, to the restaurant, the instructors, the spa service providers... I've never experienced anything like it. I am so grateful to everyone who made our stay feel incredibly special! Our one bedroom suite was huge. Slept 3 but could easily have slept 4. (ask for linens and extra mattresses for comfort on the pullout couch). The spa was heaven. Each treatment was better than the last! The spa pool was mostly full of folks resting and retreating, mostly quietly respectful, even on a busy holiday weekend. Book classes early. We booked ours two months in advance and got everything we wanted. People who waited were surprised to find so many classes full when they got to the resort. This is because they keep the classes to manageable sizes, which makes for a great experience! We did several classes/experiences you had to pay extra for, and I got the sense they tried hard to make those classes really "worth" the extra cost. The food at Terras was good! I was worried because I'd read some reviews that suggested otherwise. But I enjoyed everything I ordered... Sure, it's expensive, like most hotel restaurants these days, but we paid for the all-inclusive package partially so we wouldn't have to feel stressed about the prices. The only thing that would bump this resort up is if it backed up onto some kind of hiking trails. You cannot hike off property; it is surrounded by a residential neighborhood. You can sign-up to go on a hike nearby, which is definitely worth doing, considering the amazing natural landscape, and the guides who teach you about the history and natural phenomena in the area are fantastic. I am already dreaming of the day I can return to Civana!
